MUMBAI: In its bid to become an integrated information technology solutions provider, NIIT Technologies, a mid-sized information technology company, is aiming at bigger traction from Room Solutions, a company it acquired this year.

Arvind Thakur, chief executive officer, NIIT Technologies, said, “The line being taken is of providing integrated IT and BPO solutions. We compete effectively in insurance and travel space. In the retail space the competition is more generic.”

It is in its integrated approach (IT plus BPO) and specialising in a few fields such as insurance and travel that NIIT Technologies is hoping to differentiate itself. By combining the synergies of its BPO arm and UK-based Room Solutions, it will leverage strengths of each arm together.

For the quarter ending September 30, NIIT Technologies reported 28% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 34 crore. Consolidated revenues grew 5% at Rs 220 crore.

The core IT solutions business contributed Rs 191 crore to revenues, while BPO brought in Rs 12 crore. Room Solutions contributed Rs 27 crore.
