The Finance Secretary said, on Wednesday, that the new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 banknotes will be available in the ATMs across the country from November 11.

Ashok Lavasa, Finance Secretary, said that the new notes will go into circulation from November 21, according to PTI. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a late Tuesday evening address to the nation, announced the removal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes from the system in a bid to clamp down on black money and thwart terror financing.

The banks will remain shut on Wednesday for customers to replace the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes from their system and ATMs and replace them with Rs 100 notes. Temporary daily and weekly withdrawal limits have been imposed to ensure even distribution of Rs 100 notes. While the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes has been made worthless effective midnight November 8, albeit for certain goods and services, you can exchange them at any bank outlets or post offices till December 30.
