NEW DELHI: National Aluminium Co Ltd (Nalco) plans to sell 60,000 tonnes of alumina through a tender in March, the firm’s chairman said.

“We have floated a tender for sale of 30,000 tonne of alumina in January. In some months the tender will be for sale of more alumina depending on our production,” C R Pradhan said. “We plan to have a tender for 60,000 tonne alumina in March.” 

Pradhan said a feasibility study for setting up an aluminium smelter in the Middle East had begun and the company would finalise plans for its location in February.  Nalco also plans to set up a 250,000-to-300,000 tonne aluminium smelter in a Gulf country by 2009-10.
