At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March went up by Rs 5.50, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 978 per kg in business turnover of 64 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April month contracts was trading higher by Rs 5.10, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 988.60 per kg in 127 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions built up by traders due to uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
