Mentha oil prices were trading higher by 1.31 per cent to Rs 1,217 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries against restricted supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August shot up by Rs 15.70, or 1.31 per cent, to Rs 1,217 per kg in a business turnover of 320 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 15.40, or 1.27 per cent, to Rs 1,225 per kg in 117 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to uptick in demand from consuming industries in the physical market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
