‘Khela Hobe’ was the highlight term of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections 2021. The term, the means ‘Game On’, has caught on. The term was used by Amit Tandon, the Founder and Managing Director (MD) of Institutional Investor Advisory Services or IiAS, in one of his emails to an investor.
Tandon wrote ‘Khela Hobe’ the email where Essel Group is being discussed. A report in Zee Business noted that Amit Tandon makes references to issues between Yes Bank and Dish TV in the email, raising the question as to why IiAS founder and MD Amit Tandon is expressing excitement over the ongoing developments related to Yes Bank and Dish TV.
This has raised eyebrows are if and what role Amit Tandon and IiAS are playing in the matter? And if that is indeed the case, on whose behalf?
Zee Media possess details of the emails between Amit Tandon and a few investors. The emails raise clear suspicion around IiAS and Amit Tandon’s role and if there is a conspiracy brewing against Essel Group.
In one of the emails dated September 6 at 10:20 pm, one of the investors writes, ‘Yes Bank has given a proposal to remove promoters of Dish TV from the board of the company.’
Dr Subhash Chandra is also marked in the email.
Amit Tandon replies to the email on September 7 at 11:32 pm, writing, ‘Khela Hobe.’ The usage of the term by Tandon as MD of a proxy advisory firm, raises suspicion around the intention behind the words.
It is unclear on whose direction is Tandon, with over 3 decades of experience in financial sector, used the term.
Zee Business notes the number of questions emerging from the email:
1. Was it a pre-planned move? And accordingly advisory report was prepared?
2. What is the intention while writing ‘Khela Hobe’ about Essel Group in the email?
3. Is there a plan against Dish TV and Zee Learn? And IiAs is part of it?
4. On whose provocation was ‘Khela Hobe’ written in the email marking Dr Subhash Chandra?
5. Will SEBI investigate the matter if Amit Tandon and IiAS are involved in this conspiracy?
6. Is IiAS a proxy advisory firm or is it acting as somebody’s ‘proxy’?
On Friday, Zee Media wrote an email to Amit Tandon, MD, IiAS, seeking answers as to whose directions are being his action and if it is backed by some big corporate house. Till now, Zee Media has not received any reply from Amit Tandon’s side.
