Maruti Suzuki sold 1,26,569 vehicles in April this year, compared to 1,11,748 units sold in the same month last year, an increase of 13.3%.

While the carmaker sold 16.2% more vehicles in the month in the domestic market -- it sold 1,17,045 units compared to 1,00,709, the company's exports fell 13.7% to 9,524 units from 11,039 units in April. 

In passenger cars, Maruti sold 86,481 units, a growth of 2.7% in April this year, compared to 84,188 units sold in the same period last year. 

There was a 22.3% jump in the number of Ciaz mid-sized sedans sold by the company. 

In the utility vehicles segment, the carmaker witnessed a 260.4% jump in sales. This category has two new launches -- the S-cross which was launched some time ago and the new Vitara Brezza that was launched recently.

In the month, Maruti Suzuki sold 16,044 units of utility vehicles compared to 4,452 units in the same period last month. 

At 1136 hours, the company's shares were trading slight up at Rs 3,802 per share, up Rs 7.05 or 0.19% from previous day's close.

At the time, the BSE Sensex was down 0.81% or 207.34 points at 25,399.28.
