Kolkata-based RP Group has launched ‘greenputers’, a range of eco-friendly desktops and laptops that sell under
the brand name Chirag, group chairman, Kaustuv Ray said.
What helps ‘greenputers’ sell are competitive price, energy-saving features and a unique waste disposal agreement with the purchaser , he said.
“We take the responsibility of disposing of the client’s computers free of cost, provided the customer agrees to make the second purchase from us only,” Ray said.
Greenputers have been launched in Mumbai, Rajasthan, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand and the entire northeastern India.
Prices range from Rs12,990 to Rs29,990, Ray said.
On the group’s takeover of 51% stake in Ontrack Systems, Ray said the buyout has resulted in significant improvement in the Ontrack’s financial performance especially during the last two quarters.
