Fortune Park Hotels, a subsidiary of one of India's leading hospitality chains ITC Hotels, has pulled the plug on its Lavasa property.

The 60-room business hotel managed under the banner Fortune Select Dasve, was Lavasa hill city's first full-service branded hotel to start operations in March 2009.

Sources told DNA Money that the Fortune Park management is in the final stage of exiting its contract with the hotel. "The management contract for this hotel has been under review for a while now. Given the challenges faced by the company and the destination, the ITC Hotels subsidiary has decided not to go for an extension. The hotel chain is currently in the process of exiting the management of the property," said a source requesting anonymity.

DNA Money, in its July 30, 2018 edition, had first reported the possibilities of the ITC subsidiary exiting Lavasa.

When contacted, ITC Hotels did not comment on the development. Queries mailed to company spokespersons remained unanswered till press time.

"The Lavasa hotel will go out of Fortune's network very soon. In fact, the hotel has already stopped accepting future bookings," said another source familiar with the development.

A call inquiring about hotel room availability for the month of May confirmed the same.

"Sir, the reservations have been closed. You can call after April 15, and check for the same," said the hotel's front desk executive. Upon further probing, the executive added, "Sir, the brand is going to change. Hence, the bookings have been closed."

The Fortune Park branded full-service business hotel is probably the last one to exit Lavasa. The other hotel company managing hospitality assets in the hill city was global hospitality chain Accor.

In the July 30, 2018 edition, DNA Money had first reported that the French hospitality major Accor had ended its alliance to operate and manage the Lavasa International Convention Centre (LICC). The report also indicated that Accor was reviewing its management agreement for Mercure Lavasa and the under-construction Novotel property.

Responding to DNA Money queries seeking clarity on the above, an Accor spokesperson said, "Accor no longer manages LICC effective May 31, 2018. Accor also ceased to manage the Mercure Lavasa from October 15, 2018. This follows the conclusion of our management agreement with Lavasa Corporation Ltd. We remain committed to the success of our current and upcoming hotel assets in Lavasa with our (other) strategic partners."

While the former Mercure Lavasa hotel featuring 130-guestrooms has been rebranded as Hotel Celebration Lavasa, it could not be ascertained whether LICC was still operational. Similarly, no updates were available on the under-construction Novotel hotel.

A private hill city development near Pune, Lavasa Corp operated as a subsidiary of infrastructure major Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) until August 30, 2019. Thereafter, the company was admitted to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) by its lenders for recovering a debt of over Rs 3,500 crore.
