Isha Ambani-led Reliance Retail has bagged a massive deal with American clothing retailer Gap, and the two have partnered to expand the company’s retail footprint by planning to set up over 100 stores across the country, bringing massive revenue to both firms.

Reliance Retail said that they are planning to launch 100 outlets of Gap, both shop-in-shop and stand-alone stores of the firm. Gap operates more than 100 points-of-sale in India, and in partnerships with Reliance as well as its exclusive outlets.

In July 2022, Gap Inc. signed an exclusive deal with Isha Ambani’s Reliance Retail to bring the iconic American retail brand to India, launching its clothes in online stores. Currently, Gap is available on Reliance stores and its e-commerce website AJIO.

Through the expansion of the deal between the two, Reliance will open 100 stores of Gap across the country giving tough competition to many popular retailers across the country such as Tata’s Westside, foreign brand Uniqlo, H&M and Zara.

Meanwhile, competing brands such as Uniqlo and H&M are also expected to launch new stores soon. Uniqlo is set to open 11 new stores in India soon and H&M is targeting to open 50 new stores in the country, while Reliance’s Gap venture has not given a timeframe for their new stores yet.
