Honda Activa has broken a long-standing monopoly held by motorcycles, by being the bestselling two-wheeler for six straight months, the company said.

In the January to June period, the company sold 1,338,015 units of the Activa compared to 1,233,725 sold in the same period last year. 

With this, Honda Activa now commands a 15% market share of the entire two-wheeler market in India. 

Commenting on the development, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd, said, "We thank our valued customers who have made Activa the most preferred choice of families for commuting in India. That’s what we call Activating the Nation.”

The Honda Activa was first introduced to the Indian market 15 years ago.
