Good News: Soon you can fly to international destinations in Rs 2500

Good news for Indian travelers as the Modi government's UDAN scheme is set to fly in international skies. In other words, UDAN scheme which primariy was aiming to boost regional connectivity would soon get global as the Centre is planning to make it international. 

Soucres told Zee Media Bureau, the new expansion project would go by the name of 'International UDAN'. International UDAN would focus upon the extension  of Regional Connectivity Scheme to international routes and destinantions. 

The scheme would be implemented in the upcoming third phase of UDAN

Sources further told that initially, Assam RCS airports might get connectivity to Bangkok, Thailand and Kathmandu. Similarly, Bihar State airports could get international extension via connecting flights to Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. 

"Providing a flight to Singapore from Chennai is also being considered", the source further told. 

Following this, five airlines got the licence to operate on 128 routes in the first round of auctions in March 2017, and 15 airlines on 325 routes, including those having chopper operations, in the second round in January this year.

The government is also planning to introduce seaplanes in the upcoming phase.

Talks on the international UDAN scheme first started in March when during an aviation event civil aviation secretary R N Choubey said the success of RCS has prompted the government to extend the scheme for international flights.

In another important development, the ministry is also developing an aircraft financing structure in the country, as around 950-plus aircraft are already on order.
