Good news for taxpayers, Centre gives another opportunity to file GST returns without penalty

GST Amnesty Scheme: If you have not filed the GST Return yet, the government is going to impose a heavy penalty on you. However, before this, the government is giving another opportunity to file GST. An amnesty scheme has been announced in this regard, under which businessmen can file their taxes before August 1. Failure to do so will attract a penalty of Rs 10,000 monthly.

Lakhs of businessmen in the country have not filed GST returns till date or have left after filling it once or twice. The Centre has announced a scheme for this and given one last chance to such businessmen, who have registered from the year 2017 till now, but have not filed a single return or have left after filling one or two returns. Under the amnesty scheme, these businessmen have been given an opportunity till the month of August.

Under the government's amnesty scheme, now these businessmen have been given time till August 1, if they do not pay GST by then, they may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 10,000 every month.

According to the State Tax Commissioner and Joint Commissioner of all the states of the country, under the Amnesty Scheme of the Government of India, businessmen can apply to take advantage of this scheme before August 1. Those businessmen who do not operate with the GST number will have to pay a fine of Rs 500 every month. On the other hand, if the business owners have operated with the GST number and have not filed the GST return, they may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 1000.

According to a GST official, "Businessmen who have registered themselves after the implementation of GST but have not filed returns and their business has been closed or their registration has been canceled will also have to file returns under any circumstances." Such businessmen can avoid fines by taking advantage of the amnesty scheme.
