Forbes List of India's 100 Richest: Look at Top 10 richest Indians

The combined wealth of individuals in the list has soared up to USD 775 billion. More than 80% of Indians saw growth this year in their fortunes

Forbes has announced its 'India Rich List' for 2021 and the result is that many Indians have seen immense growth in their fortune this year. The combined wealth of individuals in the list has soared up to a record of USD 775 billion. The report shows an astounding 50 per cent growth in the wealth of these individuals. 

As always, the list also pointed out individuals who have gained traction and have reached the Top Five list. The names in the Top 5 are - Gautam Adani, Avenue Supermarts’ Radha Krishnan Damani, O.P Jindal Group’s Savitri Jindal, HCL Technologies’ Shiv Nadar, and Arcelor Mittal’s Lakshmi Mittal. 

Now, while Gautam Adani gained USD 49.6 billion, others like Damani gained USD 14 billion, Jindal USD 11.4 billion, Nadar USD 10.6 billion, and Mittal USD 8.5 billion.

According to the list, more than 80 per cent of Indians saw growth this year in their fortunes with 61 adding USD 1 billion or more.

Forbes India List 2021:

- India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, topped the list. He has been the richest man since 2008 with a net worth of USD 92.7 billion. 

As per a news agency, Mukesh Ambani plans to invest in renewable energy with a whopping  USD 10 billion by his Reliance Industries. 

- The no.2 position went to Gautam Adani., he has been in the second position for 3 consecutive years. He has gained in terms of percentage and dollars. 

- Shiv Nadar, a founder of software giant HCL Technologies is in the third position with USD 31 billion. He witnessed a growth of USD 10.6 billion in his net worth from the country’s buoyant tech sector.

- Radhakishan Damani has retained his position at the fourth spot with net worth nearly doubling to USD 29.4 billion from USD 15.4 billion. The retail magnate opened 22 new stores under his company Avenue Supermarts in the fiscal year ending March.

- A new person to enter this list is Cyrus Poonawalla, the founder of the Serum Institute of India with a net worth of USD 19 billion. The company made Covishield under license from AstraZeneca and has other Covid-19 vaccines under development.


Forbes has added six newcomers to the list this year. Here are some of their names: 

 - Ashok Boob (No. 93, USD 2.3 billion) -  Clean Science and Technology listed in July

- Deepak Mehta (No. 97, USD 2.05 billion) 

- Deepak Nitrite and Yogesh Kothari (No. 100, USD 1.94 billion) - Alkyl Amines Chemicals

- Arvind Lal (No. 87, USD 2.55 billion) - Executive Chairman of diagnostics chain Dr Lal PathLabs, also debuted on the list after a pandemic-induced surge.
