The accident happened at the powder processing facility in Unit 11 at Pydibhimavaram at Ranasthalam in Srikulam district of Andhra Pradesh. While Unit 11A of the facility manufactures intermediates, Unit 11B manufactures APIs.

“The accident happened near the intermediates facility. Three of our employees are injured. Hopefully they will recover shortly,” a company official told DNA.

However, the official said, there was no disruption in operations. “The accident site is in an isolated area and did not happen in the core operations area,” he said.

This is for the second time a major fire accident happened in the company’s units during this year.

A chemical reactor had exploded in its unit at Gullamatanuru village in Hatnura Mandalam of Medak district in August. The explosion and the fire took place in the ninth unit of the factory. However, the workers escaped the accident since they had abandoned the facility immediately.
