Farmers in seven states went on a 10-day protest from on Friday. The protests were organised on the first anniversary of the tragic killings of farmers Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur. In Mandsaur last year, five farmers were killed during protest when police open fired. Yesterday, various farmer groups have called for Gaon bandh from June 1-10. 1. During the 10-day long gaon bandh, no farm produce would be allowed to be transported outside villages.
2. The farmers across India are also voicing out their demand that the government should pay them the promised Minimum Support Price (MSP) as soon as possible.
3. Along with the earliest implementation of promised MSP, the farmers are also demanding loan waiver for all farmers across the country and an assurance of permanent minimum income from the country.
4. However, in Bhopal farmers denied being part of any protest and blamed the political parties for the confusion. But the situation was different in Punjab. In Ludhiana's Samrala, farmers spill milk on the road during their 10 days 'Kisan Avkash' protest.
5. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President, Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh on Friday appealed to the businessmen of cities to close their shops in order to pay tribute to farmers who have lost their lives in previous years.
6. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar however, dismissed the protest's relevance, he said that the strike is 'issue-less' and will bring losses to the farmers.
He said, "They don't have any issues, they are just focusing on unnecessary things, not selling produce will bring losses to farmers."

Mocking the strike, Madhya Pradesh Agriculture minister asked "where is the strike happening", Madhya Pradesh Agriculture minister Balkrishna Patidar on Saturday said that No strike of farmers are taking place in the country. Praising state government's schemes, Patidar said that farmers are happy with the schemes CM has launched for their benefit. He further added that the farmers have faith on the state and central government.
8. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamalanath will hold a protest on June 5 in Bhopal. Scindia also urged people to come out in support of protest.
9. Due to the ongoing protests, prices of vegetables in New Delhi's Okhla vegetable market soared up.
10. In Ludhiana on Saturday farmers dumped the vegetables on the street to protest.
