Dr Subhas Chandra, Chairman of Essel Group and Zee, on Friday announced that his group is keen on investing Rs 4,000 crore in West Bengal in the next two years.  Dr Chandra made this announcement at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2016 in Kolkata.

“Our group will invest Rs 4,000 crore in West Bengal in the next two years. I can assure that the impact of these investments will be like 40,000 crore,” Dr Chandra said. Dr Chandra also said that Bengal will grow further and achieve greater success in the coming year.

Inspiring youngsters at the event, he said, “It’s not the smart or most intelligent people who succeed. But people who adapt to the change, they succeed and survive. West Bengal has smart people. The leadership over here adapted to changes. Thus, it is the sixth largest economy in the country,” he added.

The summit which started on Friday, aims to focus on emerging areas such as start-ups, smart cities, growth of IT and financial hubs, development of industrial infrastructure, skills and services and cluster leadership for MSME sectors which are expected to drive growth in the coming years.

The summit aims to collaborate with the business community, investors, and intellectual capital from across the country.
