    Speaking at an event in Mumbai on Wednesday, Information Technology and Communications Minister of India Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Digital India campaign will add $1 trillion to the Indian economy in the next 5-6 years. 

    Digital India is one of the signature campaigns of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to link the entire nation with the threads of Internet. 

    Prasad said, "I believe Digital India is a good business proposition." 

    He further added that nearly $400 billion of this $1 trillion will be added from the manufacturing of mobile phones and solar panels in the country. He said, "$350 billion will be from IT and IT enabled services and the $250 billion from communication services." 

     

    Prasad added that he was open to considering changes in policy for the IT and telecom sector at any time. 

    He also added that it was imperative that television rating data becomes more fair and responsible. 'I was not impressed with TAM, I'm not impressed by the alternative (BARC) too" 

    "How can a few thousand boxes determine what India is watching?" he asked. "There must be an improvement here too, he said.
