Devastated with contents of Siddhartha's letter: Mallya targets govt agencies, banks, says they drive anyone to despair

Absconding businessman Vijay Mallya, on the day when India's 'coffee king' and owner of the popular franchise Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) VG Siddhartha went missing, praised the entrepreneur and said that he is an excellent human.

Taking it to Twitter, Vijay Mallya said, "I am indirectly related to VG Siddhartha. Excellent human and brilliant entrepreneur. I am devastated with the contents of his letter."

Mallya was referring to the letter written by Siddhartha to the board of Cafe Coffee Day on 27th July which surfaced on Tuesday after he went missing. In his letter, Siddhartha said that he has 'failed as an entrepreneur'.

The fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya also hit out at government agencies and banks saying "they can drive anyone to despair. See what they are doing to me despite offer of full repayment. Vicious and unrelenting."

Vijay Mallya who was recently allowed by London court to appeal against his extradition order to India, in another tweet said, "In western countries, Government and Banks help borrowers repay their debts. In my case they are obstructing every possible effort for me to repay my debt whilst competing for my assets. As far as the prima facie criminal case goes wait for the appeal granted."

Coffee Day MD and Chairman, VG Siddhartha, who is also the son in law of former Karnataka Chief Minister Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, has been missing since Monday.

The 58-year-old VG Siddhartha was reported missing mysteriously since Monday night when he was en route to Mangaluru. He was last seen on the Ullal bridge over the Netravati that's is spate and a massive search operation is underway. But so far he could not be traced.

Siddhartha had left from Bengaluru to Sakleshpur in Hassan district on Monday afternoon, but he asked his driver to turn towards Mangaluru on the way, according to police.

He had told his driver he was going for a walk near the bridge, police said.

"He (Siddhartha) asked the driver to wait till his arrival. When he did not return even after two hours, the driver approached the police and lodged a missing complaint," Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Senthil Sasikant Senthil earlier said.

Patil said the police were questioning a fisherman who claimed that he saw someone jumping from the bridge.
