US-based UM Motorcycles on Wednesday forayed into the Indian market with the launch of its Renegade range of cruiser motorcycles, priced up to Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The company, an arm of American bike maker UM International, introduced three models - Renegade Sport S, Renegade Commando and Renegade Classic during the Auto Expo 2016 here.

The Renegade Sport S has been launched at Rs 1.49 lakh, Renegade Commando at Rs 1.59 lakh and the Renegade Classic at Rs 1.69 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

The company has launched products in association with Lohia Auto.

"Seeing the potential of India as a giant motorcycle market, we are confident of not only steaming up the competition but also taking a decent chunk of the market," UM Motorcycles Director Rajeev Mishra said.

The company's products which come with latest the technology at an affordable price tag are an absolute novelty in the Indian market, he added.

"For consumers who want something different, we have brought the perfect answer for them through our Renegade series of motorcycles. We are extremely excited to finally open stores in India and our products will be available in 50 dealerships across India to start with," Mishra said.

UM International, Global Director Business Development, Juan Villegas said: "There is a huge liking for cruisers in India, yet many are not available in the price range of Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh."

UM International in alliance with the UP-based Lohia Auto has invested Rs 250 crore for business expansion.

Manufacturing is already underway at the Lohia Auto's Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand.
