Commercial LPG price hiked by Rs 43 - Check revised rates

It is October 1 today and as speculated, petroleum companies have increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders, yet again. This time, the price of commercial LPG has been raised by Rs 43 per bottle. The price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi is now priced at Rs 1736.50 per bottle. Last month on September 1, commercial LPG cylinder price was increased by Rs 75. However, the rates of domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged.

"Petroleum companies increase price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 43. Price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi now Rs 1736.50. On Sept 1st, price of commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 75. New rates effective from today. No change in domestic LPG cylinder rates," reported ANI.

On August 17, the price of a non-subsidised LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 25. LPG cylinder prices were also raised by Rs 25.50 on July 1.

Due to local levies, the cost of cooking gas varies across the country. The cost of non-subsidised LPG cylinders is normally revised on a month-on-month basis. Any adjustments take effect on the first of a month.

LPG costs have doubled in the last seven years, according to ANI. On March 1, 2014, an LPG refill cost Rs 410.50 per cylinder; now, it costs Rs 859.50, a significant increase.

According to the IOCL website, non-subsidized Indane rates for a 14.2 kg cylinder in metro cities was Rs 859.50, Rs 886.50, Rs 859.50 and Rs 875.50 in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai respectively, starting from August 17, 2021.

Domestic LPG cylinder prices would also rise by Rs 25 in different cities as a result of the hike. In the national capital, a completely filled 14.2 LPG cylinder now priced at Rs 884.50.

Every year, the government supplies a household with 12 subsidised LPG cylinders weighing 14.2 kg. The amount of the government's subsidy on the annual quota of 12 refills fluctuates monthly. The current crude oil prices in international markets, as well as the rupee-dollar exchange rates, impact LPG pricing in India.

The rise in LPG comes at a time when diesel and petrol prices in the nation are higher than ever. Petrol costs in the country have already exceeded the RS 100 mark, putting a heavier financial pressure on budgeting of the middle class.
