"MCL, which celebrated Silver Jubilee Foundation Day today, has crossed several milestones in coal mining sector during its journey that started in 1992 as a 23 million tonnes coal producing company and youngest subsidiary of CIL," Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd (MCL) said in a statement on Sunday.

Fiscal ended March 31, remained an eventful year for MCL as it became the flagship subsidiary of CIL, it added. While MCL produced a record 137.9 million tonne (MT) coal at a growth of 13.6%, it supplied 140.22 million tonnes dry fuel to its consumers, registering a growth of 14% compared to same period during previous fiscal.

MCL Chairman and Managing Director A K Jha said the performance graph of the company will continue to show a northward trend. CIL accounts for over 80% of the domestic coal production.
