Centre giving a chance to win Rs 50 lakh under Jal Jeevan Mission; developers need to win ICT Grand Challenge

The central government has provided people with an opportunity to win Rs 50 lakh. To win this prize money people will have to participate in an ICT Grand Challenge, to win which people will have to develop an innovative and cost-effective solution to a 'Smart Water Supply Measurement and Monitoring System'. These systems will be installed in villages.

The central government has provided people with an opportunity to win Rs 50 lakh. To win this prize money people will have to participate in an ICT Grand Challenge, to win which people will have to develop an innovative and cost-effective solution to a 'Smart Water Supply Measurement and Monitoring System'. These systems will be installed in villages. 

The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has launched this challenge in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).  Indian start-ups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other Indian companies can participate in designing the smart water supply measurement and monitoring System.

 Prize Money

The individual or the team which comes first in the ICT Grand Challenge will receive an amount of Rs 50 lakh The second place recipient will receive a reward of Rs 20 lakh. Successful developers will also receive an opportunity to join MeitY-sponsored incubator/CI to complete the work. This will further promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a self-reliant India, Digital India and Make in India.

Work to start in 100 villages initially

By 2024, every rural household has to be provided with a Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) under the JJM i.e. Har Ghar Nal Se Jal (HGNSJ).

Under this scheme, every household in the villages will be provided with clean drinking water. Automatic data collection and analysis will be done to monitor the scheme and provide better quality service. Digitising the entire water supply system will completely eliminate many problems. The Jal Jeevan Mission project will be launched in 100 villages across the country initially, following the success of which it can then be implemented in other villages.
