CBI-ED team heads to London to help get Nirav Modi back

The team will carry all the official documents needed to assist the authorities in London.

A joint team of the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate is heading to London to help the extradition process of fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi before his bail hearing on March 29. The team will carry all the official documents needed to assist the authorities in London.

A joint director-level officer from the CBI-ED was to leave for London on Wednesday night. Officers will carry the latest chargesheet filed against Nirav's wife Ami, and papers related to its recent attachment of the family's properties in the case.

The investigators would meet officers including from the Crown Prosecution Service and apprise them of the charges and fresh evidence against the family in the case.

After being spotted in London, Nirav was arrested on the basis of an extradition request by India and a red corner notice. He is accused of swindling over $2 billion from state-run PNB along with his uncle Mehul Choksi.
