Budget 2019: Railways seeks upto 30% hike in financial support

Railways is citing the reason behind an increased demand that it has spent massively over implementing under 7th pay commission, infrastructure and constant rise in petrol, diesel prices, due to which the it isn't has a healthy financial condition.

Budget 2019: Railways is seeking upto 25-30 per cent hike in financial support from the Centre in the upcoming interim budget, sources told Zee Media Bureau. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley would tabled the interim budget on February 1. 

Sources told that the Railways Ministry has asked the Finance Ministry to provide budgetary support of approximately Rs 65,000- Rs 70,0000 crore. 

Sources further told that in FY2018-19, Railways received Rs 53,060 crore under gross budgetary support. 

Railways is citing the reason behind an increased demand that it has spent massively over implementing under 7th pay commission, infrastructure and constant rise in petrol, diesel prices, due to which the it isn't has a healthy financial condition. 

If sources are to be believed, the Railways has spent approximately Rs 23,000 crore on implementation of 7th pay matrix. 

Earlier, the Ministry of Railways had proposed to raise various allowances for its workers. It has planned to increase Risk and Hardship allowance from Rs 2700 per month (R3H2 categorization) to Rs 6000 (R2H2) for Mate and Keymen. The central ministry has also planned to hike Risk and Hardship allowance from Rs 2700 pm, (R3H2) to Rs 4100 (R3H1) for Trackmen preforming Patrolling duty. 

The Indian Railways had also proposed to increase the Level Crossing Gate Allowance from Rs 1000 (R3H3) to Rs 4100 (R3H1) for Gateman, working in Special & ‘A’ Class Gates. The ministry also proposed to include all P.Way Artisans & their helper in the R&H Matrix for payment with a pay of Rs 2700 (R3H2) as for Trackmen.
