The country's top counter-terrorism agency, National Investigation Agency, has received a budgetary allocation of over Rs55 crore for 2011-12 to meet its expenses.Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee today proposed to give NIA Rs55.68 crore for the next fiscal, an increase of Rs16.33 crore from the last fiscal.The provision is for meeting the establishment related expenditure of NIA, which was recently established under the administrative control of Ministry of Home Affairs by an Act of Parliament.The agency received Rs11.91 crore in 2009-10 under non-plan expenditure head as against Rs 42.06 crore for the present fiscal.The NIA has been given the exclusive mandate to detect, prevent, investigate and prosecution of terrorism-related incidents across the country.
