The Bihar Bank Employees' Federation today joined the one day nationwide strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions against privatisation and merger of public sector banks.

The public and private sector banks' branches in the districts remained closed disrupting clearing operations and other banking services, B Prasad, the president of Bihar Bank Employees' Federation, said in a statement.

The striking bank employees raised slogans in support of their demands like recovery of loans from big defaulters or borrowers, abolition of Banks Board Bureau and filling of vacant posts through new recruitment, abolition of NPS and restoration of old pension scheme, he said.

In Patna, all clearing operations remained closed. The striking employees took out rallies from various places their demands, Prasad said.
