Bajaj Auto Ltd plans to export Quadricycle, won't be selling it in India for the time being

Bajaj Auto Limited would export its next generation vehicle 'Quadricycle' and the company won't be selling its unique product in the country--at least for the time being.

Company's managing director Rajiv Bajaj said this during an IMA organised event-- Rendezvous with Rajiv Bajaj on Wednesday.

Bajaj claimed that the central government is not permitting Quadricycle in India. He had called on the union transport minister in this regard but things did not click, he said.

"Now instead of India, we would be launching our vehicle in Europe," said Bajaj.

He lamented that due to unclear auto policy in India, the company was compelled to launch its vehicle in Europe.

The MD, however, added that the Quadricycle would be launched in India on the day, the Centre assigns an approval.

Bajaj also shared some advices given by his Professor Levio Di Sung. "Mentorship is extremely important in running a business and job of a manager is improvement," he said.
He talked about the failures in business in which 90% are wrong decisions. He gave his concept of running a management by saying management theories change every three months and adaptation should be the focus of the company.

"The company should not serve the market rather it should be compelled to be served by their products," the MD said.

Globally, the Quadricycle is more a golf cart kind of product used as a leisure vehicle and not as a mass transport vehicle.

Tata Motors, M&M, Maruti Suzuki and TVS are vehemently opposing the introduction of Quadricycles in India, seeking improved rules and regulations on safety and emission norms. But others like Eicher Motors, Piaggio and Bajaj Auto who have already developed the product, are seeking a nod for this product.
