Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Resources reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 11,181 crore for the quarter ending March 30.

The company had reported a huge net loss of Rs 19,228 in a year-ago quarter.

"Exceptional items in Q4 amounted to Rs 12,312 crore, of which Rs 12,304 crore pertained to impairment", the company said in a filing.

Excluding exception items, the net profit stood at Rs 955 crore for the quarter from Rs 505 crore (ex-exceptional items) in the year-ago quarter. 

A total of Rs 10,074 crore of the same was incurred on account of impairment of goodwill created on acquisition of Cairn India and Rs 284 crore due to write off in exploratory assets in the oil and gas segment," the company added.

Vedanta reported an Ebitda margin of 29% for the quarter. As on 31 March 2016, the net debt stood at Rs 25,286 crore, down Rs 6,254 crore from a year-ago quarter, the company said.
