A committee constituted to file a report on House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances for central government officials, will submit their final report this week.

The final recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission which will affect 47 lakh central government employees and 53 lakh pensioners. 

The committee is headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa and will make recommendations on the abolition of 53 allowances of the total 196 and subsuming another 36 into existing ones. He had held a conclusive meeting on April 6. 

In the previous meeting, the committee had sought comments from the the Indian railways and Postal department. The commission had proposed a rate of HRA at 24%, 16%, and 8% of Basic Pay for class X, Y, and Z, respectively. 

The Commission had also recommended that the rate of HRA will be revised to 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent when DA crosses 50 percent, and further revised to 30 percent, 20 percent and 10 percent when DA crosses 100 percent, A Zee News report said.
