The total wealth of the top ten richest Indians in the world is $171.4 billion, according to Forbes's India's 100 Richest 2017 list

Forbes released its list of India’s top billionaires on Thursday. According to it, the country's richest 100 posted a whopping $479 billion combined net worth, an increase of 26% from $374 billion in 2016.

Naazneen Karmali, India Editor of Forbes Asia, said, "Despite India’s economic slowdown, the country’s 100 richest have collectively enjoyed a bumper year thanks to a buoyant stock market. While the Indian billionaire factory continued to churn out new names from diverse sectors, the price of entry rose to a record high. The top 100 club is getting more exclusive with each passing year". 

10. Chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani is at the tenth spot with net worth of $11 billion. 

9. Owner of Sun Pharmaceuticals, Dilip Shaghvi is ninth richest Indian with net worth of $12.1 billion

8. Chairman of Aditya Birla group, Kumar Birla comes at eighth spot with total of $12.6 billion. 

7. Chairman of HCL technologies, Shiv Nadar is seventh richest Indian. His total wealth is of $14.2 billion. 

6. The Godrej family,one of the relevant business families of the country and owner of widely spread businesses across various sectors, Godrej Group is at the number sixth spot. Their total net worth is $14.2 billion. 

5. Owner of Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Pallonji Mistry comes fifth in terms of net worth. He has a total of  $16 billion. 

4. With total wealth of $16.5 billion, Lakshmi Mittal is world's fourth richest Indian. 

3. Owners of Ashok Leyland, Hinduja Brothers are at number 3 spot with net worth of $18.4 billion.

2. Wipro's chairman, with $19 billion net worth acquired the second spot. However, his wealth is half of Mukesh Ambani's. 

1. Mukesh Ambani has retained the top spot for world's richest Indian in 2017 with a jaw-dropping net worth of $38 billion.

Mukesh Ambani, as Forbes stated, witnessed an increase of 67% from $22.7 billion last year, making him the biggest dollar gainer on the list and also put him among top 5 in Asia.
