Aqua Line Metro: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday inaugurated Noida's much-awaited Aqua Line. The metro line has now linked the twin-cities of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar. There are a total of 21 stations on the corridor - 15 of them in Noida and six in Greater Noida -- spread over a distance of 29.7 km.

After Aqua Line's inauguration, CM Adityanath said that the metro rail network in Ghaziabad would be soon expanded, while revised detailed project reports (DPRs) for metro rail in Agra, Meerut, and Kanpur have been sent to the central government.

The Noida-Greater Noida Metro, which opened for public on Saturday, witnessed a total ridership of 11,625 passengers on day one, with officials expecting a major surge Monday onwards.

However, many passengers were shocked to know that they need their identity to buy a smart card to travel from the new Aqua line.

Below we have mentioned such rules, route details and other important things to know before you board the Aqua Line.

The Aqua line, which will have 19 rakes with four cars each, will halt on the Sector 76, 101, 81, NSEZ, Noida Sector 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, and Greater Noida's Knowledge Park II, Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Delta 1, GNIDA Office and Depot metro stations. However, a major concern among the people has been that the interchange stations of the DMRC-operated Blue Line and the NMRC's Aqua Line are not seamless.

The problem with the Noida Metro's Aqua Line is that it is not connected to the Delhi Metro's Blue Line yet. As of now, commuters from Noida or Greater Noida travelling to Delhi using the Aqua Line would have to get off at the Noida Metro's Sector 51 station and reach Noida City Centre metro station.

The metro card, built in line with the central government's initiative of national common mobility card, which could be used for NMRC-run city buses, parkings and online shopping, is being sold for Rs 100. Customers need to have a voter card or their driving license in order to buy the smart card for Aqua line.
