What are the typical obstacles women managers face?

As women leaders, it is imperative for us to create working environments that promote an equitable and inclusive work culture where employees, irrespective of their gender, are able to attain their full potential. For me, the most challenging task has remained to make a difference and make tangible contribution to the organisation while building a forward-looking and inclusive culture. At Welspun, I was resolute on creating a business model that is built on strong consumer insights and is backed with ethical and good governance practices.

With the new age aspirational consumers, my primary focus has been to understand their needs and requirements well and transforming them into business ideas, thereby making innovation as the cornerstone of our business strategy.

Your advice to young women managers?

Regardless of gender, I feel it is important for leaders to have a clear vision and innate passion for the work they do. Agility and flexibility to accommodate changing business and consumer requirements make for good leaders and are some of the qualities that have helped me as a woman leader.
