I am facing debit card payment problems since last two years from SBI. From my account, the bank deducted Rs 2,000, without any reason. That was a mistake of the bank, but till date, we have not received our deducted amount. I would be thankful if you can give me contact details of the nodal officer so I may take this further.

There must be some narration about the debit entry of Rs 2,000 — cash withdrawal, charges etc. Please check it up from the passbook. If you feel that the entry does not pertain to you, then certainly as an accountholder you have a right to ask for the details of the unauthorised debit in your account and refund of amount with interest. You may take up the matter with the bank’s nodal officer, drawing his specific attention to Para 2.1.4 of the code of bank’s commitments to customers which reads as under
“2.1.4 To Deal Quickly And Sympathetically With Things That Go Wrong By:
a. Correcting mistakes promptly and cancelling any bank charges that we apply due to our mistake
b. Handling your complaints promptly
c. Telling you how to take your complaint forward if you are still not satisfied (see para No. 7)
d. Providing suitable alternative avenues to alleviate problems arising out of technological failures.”
