Legendary and prolific actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor breathe their last on April 29 and April 30 respectively.

The sudden news of the two most loved and talented actors of the film industry leaving for their heavenly abode in less than 48 hours earlier this year left their fans across the globe in shock, leading to a massive outpouring of grief on social media.

While Irrfan lost the battle to colon infection, Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai after a two-year battle with cancer.

For the unversed, Irrfan was grieving his mother Saeeda Begum's demise, who died due to natural causes on April 25. And even though Irrfan had returned to India from the UK, he had to undergo regular checkups and routine treatments to fight colon cancer and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Versova, Mumbai where he breathed his last.

His mortal remains were buried at the Versova kabrastan. His sons Bilal and Ayan performed his last rites. Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sandeep Ssingh and others carried Irrfan's mortal remains to the graveyard. Vishal Bhardwaj, Kapil Sharma, Mika Singh and Rajpal Yadav were seen at the funeral along with Irrfan's wife Sutapa Sikdar.

Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor's family released an official statement on his demise. It read:

"Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him. He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."

Do you think that the student demise of these two amazingly talented stars who entertained audiences with their acting skills and lit up the silver screen every time they appeared on screen, was the biggest news of 2020?
