The year started on a good note for Yami Gautam, who played one of the lead roles in Uri: The Surgical Strike, which made to the Rs 200-crore club. Post its success, the Kaabil actress signed three films, starting with Amar Kaushik’s Bala, which sees her reuniting with her Vicky Donor co-star Ayushmann Khurrana after seven years. Yami plays a model from a small town with big aspirations in the film, which is intertwined with a social message.

Besides Bala, she has an untitled romantic comedy co-starring Diljit Dosanjh with whom she will be sharing screen space for the first time. Soon, she will begin shooting for Ginny Weds Sunny with Vikrant Massey. She plays a girl whose mother ploys with a prospective groom to convince Ginny to get married. The pretty actress is looking forward to an interesting year ahead with these movies in her kitty.

Yami says, “Uri has been a very wholesome, rewarding experience. Not only did it allow me as an artiste to explore new layers as an actor, but it also opened several new possibilities. Since Uri released, there has been a positive stream of work that I have been fortunate to receive and I look forward to each of these films. Like Uri, Bala is again an unexplored territory for me. It is a special script, it’s funny and a film with a great social message. While the other two are comedies, too, each of these three projects has me playing characters that are massively different from the other. So, while the genres are similar, the stories and characters in each of these films are vastly varied.”
