The trailer of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu released yesterday and we are tripping over the actress. Not only because she brings her own brand of charm to what looks like a fun caper, but also because the real life Mrs Richie Rich plays the ordinary middle-class housewife with so much ease. The last time she played a housewife was in the forgettable Ghanchakkar. Here’s why we prefer Sulu to Neetu.

1. Sulu’s smart! While in Ghanchakkar, Neetu has the same expression on her face as she keeps mouthing ‘Haiiiin!’ and seems to suffer from a dumbness syndrome, Sulu retains all her innocence, is smart, sassy and she’s having fun.

2. Sulu’s sexy! Ghankchakkar’s Neetu wore outlandish clothes and dressed up in a red teddy while asking her husband to break the bed. Sulu doesn’t need those outer trappings. Watch her, as wears a faded sari and mutters a sly taunt at her husband, hinting at not having indulged in lovemaking since long, and you will find her far sexier! As for that husky voice in which she speaks on the radio, takes seduction to a whole new level!

3. Sulu’s real! Whether she’s bargaining for RJ to give her a TV instead of a pressure cooker, or scolding her kid to study more or asking her boss to let her try her hand out at RJing, Vidya as Sulu is relatable and lovable. Whereas Neetu just ended irritating us. Watch Sulu laugh out loud at the end, and you can’t help but laugh with her. Can it get more real than that?
