Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's demise on June 14, 2020 sparked a debate about outsiders and nepotism in the industry. Eight years back, another outsider, who is also a Bollywood actress after working in Television, Prachi Desai, had confessed that people don't take outsiders seriously.

“I think the industry is opening up to me. And it is high time it does. I am truly not the person I have been made up to be. I feel that industry can be unfair sometimes. When you are an outsider, people don't take you seriously,” Prachi had told PTI.

The actress had even stated that outsiders have to push extremely harder than starkids for people to promote them. “I personally think you need an extreme push for people to promote you and bring you to a certain level,” Prachi had said before her release ‘Rock On' in 2008.

A video of Prachi saying that competition exists among starkids too has been going viral. She was heard saying that outsiders do not have any competition.

Prachi Desai had gained fame through Ekta Kapoor's Television show 'Kasamh Se'. She was paired opposite Ram Kapoor. She was last seen in the movie 'Housefull 4', which released three years after 'Rock On 2'.

The nepotism debate came into being after Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar 'flagbearer of nepotism' in the year 2017. Sushant Singh Rajput, an outsider like Prachi Desai, made a name for himself. The actor was confirmed to be depressed since the last six months and certain entities, including Shekhar Suman, doubt that Sushant might have been victim of gangeism in Bollywood.
