When Malaika Arora opened up about her age gap with Arjun Kapoor, took trolls head-on for calling her 'buddhi'

B-town diva Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor's relationship has been going strong since the couple made it official in 2019. The two often share Instagram Stories featuring each other and shower love and praise in a public display of affection. 

However, like a lot of celebrity couples, Malaika and Arjun's relationship too had to face the negativity of trolls when they confirmed they were dating each other back in the day. 

With Malaika being over 10 years elder to Arjun, trolls called her names including 'desperate' and 'buddhi (old woman)' for dating a younger man after her divorce from actor-director Arbaaz Khan. 

But Malaika as we know is one to shy away from replying to the trolls. In an interview that year, she addressed the issue and took the trolls head-on.

While there had been a lot of speculation about them for a long time, the duo finally made their relationship Instagram-official on Arjun Kapoor's 34th birthday.

Opening up about the age difference between Arjun and her, Malaika had told HT Brunch in an earlier interview, "The age difference doesn’t really pop up when you are in a relationship. It is about two minds and hearts connecting. Unfortunately, we live in a society that refuses to progress with time. An older man romancing a younger girl is hailed everywhere, but when the woman is older, she's called 'desperate' and a 'buddhi'. For people who think like this, I have just one line: Take a flying f***."

On her son Arhaan's reaction to her relationship with Arjun, Malaika had said, "I believe the best way to approach any situation is with honesty. It's important to tell your near and dear ones what's happening in your life and then give them time and space to understand and process things. We have had that conversation and I am so glad that everyone is in a much happier and more honest space today."

Malaika and Arjun seem to be in a happy space with both enjoying each other's company to the fullest. They party together and most recently, Malaika was seen holidaying with Arjun, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan on Christmas 2020 in Dharamshala where Arjun was shooting for 'Bhoot Police'.
