'Can you imagine having Miss World Aishwarya Rai as nurse?': When Jaya Bachchan teased daughter-in-law

As actor-politician Jaya Bachchan turns a year older today, we look back at the time when she teased her granddaughter Aardhya about having 'Miss World Aishwarya' as her nurse. 

Known for her serious public persona, Jaya Bachchan is chill as a grandmother and mother-in-law. She has never missed an opportunity to speak highly of Aishwarya. But today, we are looking at the time when she cracked a joke about her daughter-in-law during a radio interview. 

Speaking about her granddaughter Aaradhya, Jaya had said, "I think that Aishwarya does a very good job of the hands-on mummy. And sometimes I tease her and say Aaradhya is a very lucky girl — can you imagine having a nurse like Miss World Aishwarya."

And while this sure was a joke that everyone got, Jaya has on several occasions praised her daughter-in-law Aishwarya for being the strong woman that she is. 

During an episode of 'Koffee With Karan', Jaya spoke highly of Aishwarya as her 'bahu'. 

She had said, "I think its wonderful because she is such a big star herself. But when we all are together, I have never ever seen her push herself, I like that quality that she stands behind, she’s quiet, she listens and she’s taking it all in. Another beautiful thing is she’s fitted in so well. Not just into the family, but she knows that this is family, these are good friends, this is how one is supposed to be. I think she’s a strong lady, she has a lot of dignity."

Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan's son Abhishek Bachchan on Friday shared a mesmerising throwback picture of his mother, wishing her on the occasion of her 73rd birthday.

The 'Guru' actor took to his Instagram handle and shared a monochrome throwback photo that truly captured the senior actor's beauty, with her exclusive signature at the bottom that read 'Jaya Bhaduri'.

Along with the picture, Abhishek also wrote an endearing birthday wish for his dotting mother that read, "Happy birthday Ma. Love you."

The picture posted by Abhishek received comments from Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya's granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda. While Hrithik wrote, "Happy Birthday jaya aunty," Navya wished her grandmother by leaving heart-eyed emojis in the comments.

Navya too shared a post wishing her grandmom. "Nani I love you. Happy Birthday!" she wrote alongside a couple of photos of Jaya from her acting days.
