Various news reports had recently stated that Varun Dhawan was roped in to play the role of stock broker Harshad Mehta in a movie. The film, according to these reports, was going to be produced by Paresh Rawal.

Eventually, of course, there was a web show called 'Scam 1992' which spoke about Harshad Mehta. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the web show introduced people to the talent of Gujarati actor Pratik Gandhi, making him an overnight sensation.

Varun has now clarified his name being linked to 'Scam 1992'. The actor said the rumours are not true. He further added that only Pratik Gandhi could be the choice for the show.

The reports stated that Varun Dhawan was in talks to play Mehta in a biopic produced by veteran actor Paresh Rawal. However, due to reasons unknown, the project was scrapped.

On the work front, Varun is soon going to be seen in his father David Dhawan's directorial 'Coolie No 1'. The actor is paired opposite Sara Ali Khan in the film.

He has also been roped in for 'Jugg Jug Jeeyo' opposite Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. Varun has also bagged the horror-comedy 'Bhediya' opposite Shraddha Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Sanki' and Arjun Kheterpal biopic 'Ekkis'.
