Year after year Akshay Kumar has ruled the box-office with a Republic Day release.

Yes, two of his much-awaited film and totally in contrast with each other are heading for a release on Republic Day weekend

While his magnum opus 2.0 with superstar Rajinikanth was already slated for January 25 release, now, Padman too has booked the same weekend.

Akshay Kumar confirmed the news on Instagram. The actor shared the poster of the film and captioned it, "Not all superheroes come with capes! Bringing you the true story of a real superhero, #Padman this Republic Day - 26th January, 2018!‬" Directed by R Balki, this film marks the debut of Mrs funnybones as a producer as well.

No suprises that everyone in the industry is shocked by this decision. Everyone is wondering if 'Padman' will be able to survive with Shankar's '2.0' which brings back Rajinkanth in the role of Chitti the robot alongwith Akshay as the villian and Amy Jackson as the leading lady of the film. According to Mid-day report, 2.O is said to be made on a budget of Rs. 450 crore and  is touted to be the most expensive film made in India. The makers even did a grand audio launch for the film in Dubai recently.

According to Mid-day sources, suggest that Akshay Kumar had a word with Thalaiva about this box-office clash in Dubai. It's only after Rajini gave him the go-ahead that 'Padman' made the big announcement.
