Musician Vishal Dadlani became a trending topic on Twitter after he messed up a fact about the song 'Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon'. During an episode of the singing reality show Indian Idol, Vishal was heard telling a contestant that the iconic song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the year 1947. However, the truth is the legendary singer crooned the song to Nehru in 1963.

Soon after Dadlani's goof-up, the musician became a top trend with '#DadlaniFacts'. One of the tweets read as "Lata ji sang this song in front of Nehru on 27th Jan 1963 in remembrance of our 1962 China War Martyrs. How idiot @VishalDadlani distorting History. That's why @SonyTV losing its credibility by having him as judge #DadlaniFacts."

Vishal apologised to the mistake by tweeting, "I see a few right-wingers "offended" by my messing up the date of "Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon" being sung to Pt. Nehru. I apologise for my error."

However, that did not stop a few people from praising the episode of Indian Idol where the contestants sang patriotic songs.

One of the Tweeters wrote, "To err is human...yes, the year was 1963. Love watching Indian Idol, @VishalDadlani sir, your presence made the show more joyful and glamorous. Thank you for adding your wonderful energy."

To which Vishal replied, "Appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed the episode and forgave my error."
