'Vicky Donor' Ayushmann Khurrana and 'Piku' actor Amitabh Bachchan roped in for Shoojit Sircar's next, 'Gulabo Sitabo'

The legendary director Shoojit Sircar has done it again! After the filmmaker managed to grip audiences with his movies, he has got two great actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan on board for his next project. Co-incidentally Ayushmann made his debut with Sircar while Amitabh Bachchan got yet another memorable film with the director.

Vicky Donor fame Ayushmann Khurrana is teaming up yet again with Shoojit Sircar, this time, for the first time, with Piku actor Amitabh Bachchan. Shoojit Sircar presents a quirky family comedy starring the two great actors which he has titled Gulabo Sitabo.

Shoojit, as usual, teams up with writer Juhi Chatturvedi for the movie. It is being backed (in other words, produced) by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar from Rising Sun Films Production. Talking about the same, Sircar told the Mumbai Mirror, “Juhi and I have been working on this script for a while now. We all know whenever she comes up with a story, it has her trademark quirk. As soon as I read it, I shared it with Mr Bachchan and Ayushmann at the same time. I thought it would take some time to develop and take it forward, but everyone was so enthusiastic to work on this script, they figured out their dates and here we are, planning to release the film this year itself.”

The title, the director explains, is a colloquial term in the Uttar Pradesh capital. Sitabo is the worn-out, overworked wife of a man. Meanwhile Gulabo is his enticing mistress. The movie is expected to have local humour and songs which depict the nuances of daily life.

Shoojit Sircar is known for his quirky films. Ayushmann's debut movie Vicky Donor dealt with the subject of a sperm donor trying to live a normal life by hiding his profession. Meanwhile Amitabh Bachchan-Deepika Padukone-Irrfan Khan starrer Piku had the backstory of bowel movement issue. It in fact had a very popular line 'Insaan ka emotion uske motion se juda hua hota hai' (a human's emotion is connected to how good his/her motion is).

There is still no update about the lead actresses of the movie. The director however also announced that Gulabo Sitabo would release in theatres in November 2019. Shoojit is currently busy with Vicky Kaushal's Udham Singh biopic but would begin work on Gulabo Sitabo soon.
