Actress Banita Sandhu tested positive for novel coronavirus on Monday evening. She was admitted to a Kolkata hospital soon after.

The actress had arrived in Kolkata from United Kingdom (UK) on Dec 20, to celebrate Christmas and New Year in India. She welcomed 2021 in Kolkata, which is where she is currently receiving treatment for COVID-19.

Banita's co-passenger from the flight had tested positive for COVID. It was at the time when UK strain was found. She had come to Kolkata to shoot for her movie, 'Kavita & Teresa'.

Interestingly, Banita's 'October' co-star Varun Dhawan had also tested positive on the sets of 'Jugg Jugg Jiyo', back in December 2020. The actor and his co-star Neetu Kapoor had tested positive on the sets. She has recovered from the deadly virus.

Banita made her Bollywood debut with 'October'. She played the role of Shuili in the movie (a name adapted from a flower/plant). The actress played the role of a hotelier who accidentally fell off a rooftop and went into coma, paralyzed to the bed.

She then made her Tamil movie debut opposite debutant Dhruv Vikram in 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh's adaptation called 'Adithya Varma'.

In the same year, she was seen in the English film 'Eternal Beauty'. Banita played the role of Alex in the movie. She also appeared in the English TV show 'Pandora' in 2019.

Apart from 'Kavita & Teresa', Banita Sandhu will also be seen in Sardar Udham Singh. The movie is directed by 'October' helmer Shoojit Sircar and features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.
