According to sources, a cricket match is scheduled to be played between the bride’s and the groom’s families on Saturday.
The country’s two biggest passions, cricket and big fat weddings, have come together in the wedding extravaganza of actor Priyanka Chopra and US singer-actor Nick Jonas. The crossover celebrity couple is tying the knot at a lavish ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
According to sources, a cricket match is scheduled to be played between the bride’s and the groom’s families on Saturday. While the two teams, named ‘P’ and ‘N’, try to bowl the other out, the couple will play cameo roles in the limited-over match.
Priyanka’s haldi ceremony is slated for the same day, after which the couple will wed in a Christian ceremony. A party has been planned for some 250 guests at the Darbar Hall of Umaid Bhawan, which was lit up in blue on Thursday after the wedding destination, Blue City Jodhpur.
The Indian wedding, with PC clad in red sari and Nick in golden shervani, will take place in a marble mandap at the palace on Sunday.
Priyanka, Nick give special performances
During the sangeet ceremony on Thursday, guests saw Priyanka turn emotional her as her fiancé delivered a special performance for her. In turn, Priyanka, glittering in a pink ensemble with kundan-diamond jewels, performed a special dance dedicated to him.
The four-hour-long event also saw performances set to Bollywood, Punjabi and Rajasthani numbers by PC’s cousin Parineeti, and various Indian and international artistes. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and wife Nita were present at the do.
On Friday, guests continued to pour in at Jodhpur. Salman’s sister Arpita Khan with son Ahil was seen at the city’s airport.
