Actor Uday Chopra's tweet on September 13 which said that India should legalise marijuana, as created quite a furore.

Uday presented his case saying that legalising marijuana will prove to be a huge revenue source and that the drug has medical benefits. 

"I feel India should legalize marijuana. Firstly, It's part of our culture. Secondly, I think if legalised and taxed it can be a huge revenue source. Not to mention it will remove the criminal element associated with it. Plus and most importantly it has a lot of medical benefits!" he tweeted on Thursday.

While some have questioned if he himself is consuming the drug, some others have created are against this statement of his, while some others have trolled him yet again.

But one response to this tweet which has the power to alter the course of the wind is that of the Mumbai police. 

The official Twitter handle of Mumbai police had a strict message for Uday Chopra, not necessarily directed at him though. 

The tweet read, "Sir,as citizen of India,you are privileged to express your view on a public platform. Be mindful, as of now, consumption, possession and transportation of marijuana, invites harsh punishment as per provisions of  Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985. Spread the Word"

Well, we hope that Uday Chopra has understood the point loud and clear! 

In his defense, Uday clarified that he doesn't use it (marijuana), but feels like "And no I do not use it. I just really think it is a wise move, given our history with the plant."

Uday Chopra is always the fun part of the internet. Whether he's the subject of some hilarious new meme, or the writer of a really cryptic tweet, the Dhoom actor resurfaces every now and then, and a few times, in the most controversial ways to say the least.

The 45-year-old actor made his acting debut in 2000 in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Mohabbatein and was later seen in films like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Dhoom, Neal 'n' Nikki and Pyaar Impossible.

Uday Chopra was last seen on the silver screen in 2013 as Ali in the third installment of the Dhoom franchise.
