The filmmaker mentions that some of the interesting aspects of the track will be seen in their entirety in the film
If the announcement of Student Of The Year 2 generated curiosity, its trailer and the track Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani have only added to the audience’s anticipation. The makers are sure that the Hook Up Song, which releases today, will increase the buzz further. While Kumaar has penned its lyrics, Vishal-Shekhar has composed the party number and Farah Khan has choreographed it. Talking about the track, which is set in a house party, director Punit Malhotra says, “The thought of getting one of the ex-students back in this film was the germ for it. So, we started building on it.”
Interestingly, this number has a connect with The Break-Up Song from Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). As Punit reveals, “We took the cue from there, and that’s where the hook up idea came from.”
Another interesting aspect is that it sees the fresh pairing of Alia Bhatt and Tiger Shroff. The director, who collaborated with the Kalank actress for the first time, says, “When I spoke to Alia, she said, ‘I will rehearse non-stop.’ She was already juggling two films at that time. But she gave her 200 per cent to this song.”
Punit, who is all praises for the actress, adds, “Tiger dances well, but Alia has surpassed him. When you see the song, you’ll see that she is stunning. She has spared no effort and I give full credit to her. She had bruises on her hand, but the way she danced was simply amazing.”
The filmmaker mentions that some of the interesting aspects of the track will be seen in their entirety in the film. But he reveals that the actors have done ‘a bunch of crazy things’ for it.
“There are some stunts as well that won’t be shown in the promo, but you will see them all in the movie. There are a lot of flips and rotating sets, etc. In short, it is brimming with energy,” Punit signs off.
