We had informed you yesterday that while Deepika Padukone might not change her surname to either Bhavnani or Singh, Ranveer Singh was more than willing to, especially since he has dropped his surname once already.

Deepika reasoned her not dropping the surname to Hindustan Times as, “I’ve worked extremely hard to create my own identity and so has he. So, my question is, ‘why would he have to do that?’ I think what people see of us is a very minuscule part of our entire being and existence. But at the core of it, we are very alike.”

This reason seems to be pretty similar to what Twinkle Khanna had once told the same publication when asked why she didn’t change her surname to either Bhatia or Khanna after she got married to superstar Akshay Kumar. She had said, "Why I didn’t change my last name from Khanna to Kumar. My answer has always been the same- I am married not branded. I am not a tiny company that a big firm like Godrej has taken over and now I have to change my brand name as well".

Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone is an ace badminton player, which makes Deepika a brand in herself, and like the actress mentioned, she has worked towards becoming a leading actress in Bollywood, which she probably would like to honour.

While Ranveer told on a chat show, “Since I have dropped my surname, I need a new one, so why not! It’s a legendary surname,” Deepika shunned it saying, ‘Why would he have to do that?’
