Thappad addresses the issue of domestic violence which is evident as soon as the trailer opens where Taapsee can be seen sitting in front of a lawyer, filing a complaint against her husband for slapping her.
Bonafide actress Taapsee Pannu's upcoming film Thappad, helmed by Anubhav Sinha and which she wrapped up in just a month looked like a winner when yesterday Taapsee took to her social media and unveiled the poster from the film, showing her reaction after getting a tight slap.
Today the makers of the film released the much-awaited trailer for the film and we cannot wait for the movie to release as soon as possible. Thappad addresses the issue of domestic violence which is evident as soon as the trailer opens where Taapsee can be seen sitting in front of a lawyer, filing a complaint against her husband for slapping her.
The trailer then takes her through the character's journey from being a happily married woman, in love with her husband to be a victim of domestic violence when her husband played by Pavail Gulati slaps her at a party. Everything from the dialogues, background music to the impeccable supporting cast, Thappad has everything, in addition to being a socially relevant film in times like these.
Thappad will mark the second collaboration between director Anubhav and Taapsee who worked together in Mulk too. Earlier while talking about Thappad, the actor wrote on her Instagram page, "Final pack up on #Thappad 31 days flew faster than storm but left the same impact. While most of the times I am thanking my stars to get a chance to work with such a director ( in this case I got lucky twice ) but other times I see it as a curse. Curse of too much comfort, too much ease, too complex an emotion simplified too easily, too much to learn, too much of happiness, the only thing too little is the number of days spent on set. Damn! It’s gonna be tough moving on to the next one... Until we shake the world again..... @anubhavsinhaa I shall haunt u as your nutritionist if not an actor!"
Apart from Taapsee and Pavail, the film also stars Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sushil Dahiya, Ram Kapoor, Tanvi Azmi, among others. Thappad is slated to release on February 28, 2020.
